UAE Lifts 21-Month Visa Ban on Nigerians: Fast 48-Hour Visa Approval with Adventure Trip Tourism LLC
Exciting News for Nigerian Travelers: UAE Visa Ban Lifted
The United Arab Emirates has lifted a 21-month-long visa ban on Nigerian citizens, paving the way for renewed travel and business opportunities between the two nations. This significant update opens doors for Nigerian travelers seeking to explore the UAE for tourism, business, and other purposes.
UAE Lifts Visa Ban: What You Need to Know
Mutually Beneficial Negotiations:
Nigeria’s Information Minister, Mohammed Idris, announced that the UAE’s decision to lift the visa ban, in place since October 2022, came after “mutually beneficial negotiations” between both governments. The updated controls and conditions for Nigerian visitors reflect a renewed commitment to cooperation and mutual respect.
New Visa Application Requirements:
Nigerian travelers must now submit documents proving their identity and travel history to obtain a verification number necessary for visa applications. Applicants aged 13 and under are exempt from these requirements, as per the Emirati government's guidelines.
Background of the Ban:
The UAE imposed the visa ban due to concerns over improper conduct and visa rule circumvention. Tensions escalated when Nigeria reduced Emirates Airlines' flights from 21 times a week to just once weekly in retaliation for the UAE’s restrictions on Nigerian airline Air Peace.
Diplomatic Resolution:
Since taking office in May 2023, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has been actively engaged in resolving the diplomatic impasse. His meetings with Emirati President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan were instrumental in lifting the ban and restoring diplomatic relations.
Resumption of Emirates Flights:
Emirates Airlines announced in May that it would resume daily flights between Lagos and Dubai starting October this year. Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the popularity of the Lagos-Dubai route and the addition of over 300 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity in passenger aircrafts’ lower decks.
